Another “Blue Flag” for AKS Hinitsa Bay Beach in 2021

AKS Hinitsa Bay found itself for the 19th consecutive year on the list of beaches awarded with a “Blue Flag”, adding yet another important distinction to the AKS Hotels family’s long list. The “Blue Flag” is an internationally recognized programme of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), with national trusteeship held by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN). The certification has very strict criteria with respect to environmental education and awareness, noting the health of swimmable waters, environmental management, safety issues, lifeguard and first aid services and infrastructure. It acts as a symbol of water and shoreline health, while also contributing to environmental awareness and the protection of marine ecosystems. AKS Hinitsa Bay’s primary goal is the provision of refined quality services while always prioritizing the security of our guests. As such, granting the “Blue Flag” to our beach rewards our efforts and honors us – especially since Hinitsa Beach is one of five other beaches in the Argolida region. Considering the increasing need to protect the environment and respect nature, we are proud we can partake in this collective effort which we hope will gain momentum in the future.

Roger Federer is on vacation in Greece and, particularly, Argolida

1 (1)

Everyone knows that Porto Heli and the general region of Ermionida continuously attract various personalities from all over the world and that this year couldn’t be any different. For the past few days, who else is in Greece, in Argolida but Roger Federer, this huge start of world sports, the greatest tennis player of all time. According to information gathered by Tennis24, Federer came to Greece and the Eleftherios Venizelos airport, along with his wife Mirka, about ten days ago. He was immediately taken to a van which drove him through the mountains of Corinth and Argolida, all the way to Ermionida. Once there, he will be able to enjoy the green forests, the amazing beaches, and, if he wants to leave his isolation for a bit, cosmopolitan Porto Heli. The same piece of information says that he might even spend some time on a boat, which makes sense for a star of his caliber who will probably want to avoid publicity as much as possible. Roger Federer is without doubt the greatest tennis player that has ever lived and one of the greatest athletes in any sport. With 17 titles in Grand Slam tournaments (Wimbledon, French Open, US Open and Australian Open), dozens of other titles in international tournaments and well over 1000 wins in his career, Roger Federer is a living legend of tennis. He’s still active of course, since he only became 35 years old last August, and he is preparing for the new sports season. Greece and Argolida will be able to offer the rest and the peace and quiet that are necessary to meet the demands of an athlete’s life. It’s no accident that Federer decided to visit one of the most beautiful places in the country. Last year it was Shakira and Pique, this year it’s Roger Federer. This season is slowly reaching its end and it closes, once more, rather impressively. Peloponnese Hotels in Argolida – AKS Hinitsa Bay

Spetses mini marathon – A great event on a beautiful island

Swimming-5000_c

Spetses will once more be hosting, for the fifth consecutive year, Spetses mini marathon, an event that is gradually becoming an institution for this beautiful island of the Saronic gulf, opposite the equally majestic Argolida. From October seven to October nine, Spetses will be filled with athletes, professional or not, from Greece and the entire world. Among them you’ll find many famous people, like the exquisite Hollywood actress, Bo Derek. The athletes will have the opportunity to take part in various races from easy ones to rather demanding ones:

  • 5K race
  • 10K race
  • 25K race
  • 3K swimming (from Kosta coast, next to Porto Heli, to Spetses)
  • 5K swimming (from Spetses to Kosta and back again)

The children will also have the chance to show their skills and stamina with races divided by age:

  • 500m race (children up to five years old)
  • 500m race (children from first to third grade of elementary school)
  • 1000m race (children from fourth to sixth grade of elementary school)
  • 150m swimming (children from eight to twelve years old)
  • 300m swimming (children from twelve to fifteen years old)

This will also be the first year with a SUP event (it stands for Stand-Up Puddle) which is a relatively new sport that is very popular around the Mediterranean Sea and the world. The festivities won’t end here of course, because the people of Spetses know how to make everyone feel welcome. During the events, the participants will be able to make the best of the “Spetsiot Treats”, since the women of the island will provide pies, sweets and traditional recipes, always accompanied by ouzo and tsipouro. We just hope that they will enjoy them after they have finished their race. Finally, a whole evening will be dedicated to pasta, since the participants will take part in MELISSA Pasta Night. It is, after all, widely known that pasta is the food preferred by athletes. The heart of Greek sports will be beating in Spetses and Argolida from October seven to October nine! Armata Spetses 2016 – The most impressive naval spectacle in Greece is coming

Armata 2016

This Saturday and Sunday, on September 10 and 11, you’ll be able to see the most important events for Armata Spetses 2016, a spectacular celebration that takes place in Spetses every year, but mainly in the seas around this wonderful island. Get ready for fire and fireworks, explosions and naval battles (or just their reenactment) at a festivity that attracts hundreds or even thousands of visitors every year, who want to enjoy the show, but also the good weather of September at majestic places.

Why does this amazing festival take place always on the second weekend of September? It is essentially a tribute to the naval battle of September 8, 1822. That’s when the Turks tried to invade Spetses and Hydra, in order to take the Greek forces away from the siege of Palamidi in Nafplion, still occupied by the Turks. Even though they were fewer, Greeks were proven once more to be heroes and emerged victorious, since they destroyed the Turkish flagship, making the rest of the enemy ships fall back.

The people who want to enjoy the festivities can do so from the shore, but the truly privileged spots are in the sea. From Porto Heli you can take the boat to take you out in the sea, quite close to the reenactment of the naval battle, so you can have a unique view of the blowing up of the flagship.

Of course, the Armata at Spetses is not just about that weekend. The week is full of events that have already started with boat races, and it includes traditional and Latin dances, gymnastics, concerts and religious ceremonies.

For Argolida and the seas around it (let us not forget that Spetses belong to Attica prefecture), Armata is the autumn highlight and it is definitely a spectacle that everyone needs to see at least one in their lives.
